TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Professional Writing Practicum—English 505
Co-taught graduate professional development course with professional writing program director. Developed focus on problem setting, and crafting evidence of effective teaching.
Technical Communication—English 421
User experience course where students developed technical documentation. Students crafted user profiles, modeled multimodal texts, and conducted user experience research and revision.
Business Communication—English 420 (5 sections)
Undergraduate professional development course using project-based strategies so students engage audiences outside the classroom. Taught three sections as a service learning partnership with CARE, a newly formed sexual violence response advocacy and education center at Purdue.
Business Communication Online—English 420Y (5 sections)
Problem setting approach to writing and research including methods for distributed work and digital collaboration. Course was taught in both 8 week (summer) and 16 week (semester) models.
Introduction to Professional Writing—English 306
Exploratory course for majors and prospective majors. Students practice public rhetoric, genre analysis, and user centered design.
First Year Composition—English 101,106 (11 sections)
Taught several distinct versions of first year writing with approaches including inquiry based essays, data-driven research, project-based research, writing about writing, and a data science learning community (linked course, see curriculum development).
CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT
Purdue Data Science Learning Community (Fall 2018)
“Engineering in the world of data” Designed FYW curriculum in collaboration engineering and library science faculty, linking a required first year engineering course, a data science course, and first year writing.
Online MS in Science and Medical Writing (Summer 2018)
Worked with a team of faculty and graduate students to design requirements, courses, syllabi, and assignments for a potential Online MS program
ADMINISTRATION AND MENTORING
Crow Research Team Member (December 2015-Present)
Infrastructure and technical communication specialist for interdisciplinary, interinstitutional research team. Helped to draft and submit IRB protocol, multiple grants, and a multi-year grant strategy. Led formation of graduate lab practicum for Humanities Without Walls grant. Coordinated work for multiple project teams, and participated in peer and undergraduate mentoring efforts.
Professional Writing Program Mentor (April 2015-May 2018)
Co-taught practicum class for new instructors with Dr. Michael Salvo, assisted professional writing instructors with curriculum design, professional development, and classroom management. Conducted new instructor orientation, in-service, and hiring workshops. Collaborated with instructors to address classroom problems throughout the semester. Assisted director with hiring instructor cohorts, new teacher observations, and course assignments
ATTW Assistant Web Editor (April 2015-April 2017)
Worked with Dr. Bradley Dilger and ATTW executive committee to secure, improve, and update the ATTW web presence after security breach. Supported the annual conference in 2016 and 2017, including web and social media content strategy, proposal review, conference registration, and extensive coordination of on-site logistics.

iD Tech Camp Director (June—August 2015, 2016, 2017)
Directed operations, staffing, and instructor training for premiere summer technology camp for kids 7—17. Conducted new instructor orientation for a staff of 15—70 helping college-age instructors with experiential learning pedagogy, classroom management, and differentiated instruction. Coordinated camp logistics at Stanford (2015,2016) and University of Michigan (2017) for camps ranging from 150—450 students. Managed camp logistics including housing, computer set-up and IT, supplies and inventory management, and camp overnight supervision.
La Quinta Inns Inc. Hotel General Manager (January 2002—June 2008)
Managed operations and staffing for five different hotels, specialized in audit procedures, staff training, customer service, and new systems training
